I had this issue with my old iPhone 6 and so when I got my 8 I started fresh instead of restoring from a backup of my iPhone 6 through iTunes. I was hoping this would eliminate this annoying bug but it didn't. The problem is, no matter what purchased tone I use as a text tone my phone randomly reverts back to the default "ding". Sometimes resetting the phone does the trick other times it doesn't. This problem seems to be pretty common based on the research I have done. Has anyone actually found a reliable fix for this.
